Delegates to the ‘Go Global’ international IT entrepreneur seminar at CeBIT Asia were last night treated to a dinner cruise on the Huangpu river, presenting perhaps the best technology networking opportunity of the four-day event.
Hosted by Go Global seminar sponsors, including Chinese online directory C114.net, the Shanghai Informatization Youth Talent Association, and Hannover Fairs Shanghai, the cruise for about 150 delegates took in the lights and sights of the city’s famous Bund and Pudong riverside areas.
Go Global and its dinner cruise aftermath featured official delegations from Australia, Germany, the United States, as well as their Chinese hosts.
C114.netDirector and Vice-General Manager Mr Qin Jie had told the group earlier in the day that greater international co-operation and technology exchanges was the best way to assure continued industry growth in China.
“I believe that the mutual understanding and technological exchanges between China’s ICT industry and international ICT companies will be strengthened through this (Go Global) meeting,” Mr Qin said.
Go Global host and night cruise organiser Dr Pearl Wang Haoqing from Shanghai Jiaotong University said the Chinese organisations looked at globalisation issues very differently today than even a few years ago.
“Before when we said in China ‘Go Global’, it meant local companies going offshore,” Dr Wang said. “But now, we see that it Go Global also means for foreign companies to go the China!”
“It is really great to see so many different people talking about the same thing, sharing international experience with each other,” she said. “That’s what we’re trying to achieve with this event.”
